Mumbai toKhatu Shyam
‖ 1100 km · train 16–20 hrs or a 1.5-hr flight ‖
Mumbai is the longest of the common journeys to Khatu, and a favourite of the Marwari community. Most travel by train — 16–20 hours via Jaipur — or fly to Jaipur and finish by road.
By train
16–20 hours · via JaipurSeveral trains to Rajasthan leave from Bandra Terminus, Borivali and CST. The popular choices are the Aravali Express (Mumbai–Ahmedabad–Ajmer–Jaipur) and the Bandra–Bikaner Express.
Reach Jaipur, then take a train or taxi onward to Ringas — total journey about 20–22 hours. Some Bandra–Jodhpur and Bandra–Bikaner trains also stop at Ringas or Sikar.
The Marwari community travels mostly by train, and during the mela the railways run "Khatu Special" services on this route.
By air
1.5-hr flight + 80 km by roadSeveral direct Mumbai–Jaipur flights run daily on IndiGo, Air India, Vistara and SpiceJet, taking about 90–100 minutes.
From Jaipur airport it is a 1.5–2 hour drive to Khatu, so airport-to-temple is roughly 5–6 hours in all. Fares are usually ₹4,500–8,000 and rise during the mela. This is the fastest option when time is tight.
By road
1,100 km · 18–20 hours (not recommended)By road it is about 1,100 km: Mumbai → Surat → Ahmedabad → Udaipur → Ajmer → Jaipur → Khatu.
That is an 18–20 hour drive, best planned over two to three days, and really only worth it for large groups or those who enjoy a long road trip. Most Mumbai devotees prefer the train or a flight.
