About khatu.in

An independent, Hindi-first devotional portal for Khatu Shyam Ji.

Last updated · 20 June 2026

What this site is

khatu.in is an independent devotional portal dedicated to Shri Khatu Shyam Ji — Barbarika, the Kaliyuga avatar revered as "Hare ka Sahara", the refuge of the defeated. Our single aim is to make the katha, paath and devotional material of Khatu Baba available in clean, simple, free form — Hindi first, with an English mirror.

Here you will find the three-part katha, the Shri Shyam Chalisa, aarti, stuti, the eighty-four names, prarthna, bhajans, the Phalgun and Kartik mela guides, yatra routes to Khatu from cities across India, and the temple’s daily darshan.

We will never put the chalisa, aarti or any paath behind a paywall — devotional text stays free, always.

Who makes this content

khatu.in is run by a small group of devotees — not a large organisation, but a personal effort by a few of Baba’s bhakts. The writing, editing and technical work is done by this group, and content is published under the "khatu.in Editorial" name.

We are not affiliated with the official Shri Shyam Mandir Committee. For temple administration, VIP darshan, donations or any official mela matters, please always contact the official trust directly.

How content is made — our sources

Our narrative content is written after cross-checking authoritative texts and traditions. The main sources are —

  • The Mahabharata and Skanda Purana (Barbarika’s lineage and the katha episodes).
  • Gita Press, Gorakhpur editions.
  • The Shri Shyam Mandir Committee’s printed katha booklet.
  • Widely published, established bhajan collections.

Where folk tradition carries variant readings (the cow-and-milk discovery, the king’s name, exact dates), we follow the most widely published version. Our "articles" (lekh) are original reflections — built on these same stories, but the words are our own.

Every katha and article page shows its publication date and sources clearly.

Our editorial principles

  • Devotional material (chalisa, aarti, bhajan, etc.) stays free, always.
  • No invented miracles, no clickbait headlines — written with reverence and restraint.
  • We never collect donations or payments in our own name. Please donate only to the official trust.
  • Corrections are welcome — we fix content as soon as an error is reported.

Advertising & affiliate links

To help cover the cost of running this site, some pages may carry affiliate links to relevant products (such as puja items, idols or books) or travel services. If you buy through these links we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you.

We only suggest items useful in the context of Khatu devotion, and never let them interfere with the reading of the paath. These are not official temple products.
