Delhi toKhatu Shyam

‖ 285 km · 5–6 hours by road ‖

Delhi is the busiest gateway to Khatu Shyam, and the easiest from the north. You can drive it overnight in 5–6 hours, take a train to Ringas or Sikar, or fly to Jaipur and finish the last 80 km by road.

By road

285 km · 5–6 hours

The usual route is NH-11/NH-48 from Delhi towards Jaipur, then NH-52: Delhi → Dharuhera → Rewari → Kotputli → Sikar → Khatu. It is four-lane highway almost the whole way and easy to drive.

A car or taxi is the most comfortable option, especially with family or elderly travellers. Keep your FASTag topped up — there are six or seven toll plazas, and a one-way toll runs roughly ₹300–400.

Regular Delhi–Khatu buses also run, but most families prefer to drive or take a night train.

By train

6–7 hours · to Ringas or Sikar

Direct trains run from Delhi (New Delhi, Old Delhi and Nizamuddin) to Ringas Junction, the nearest railhead — just 17 km from Khatu. The Salasar Express, the Rewari–Ringas passenger and the Sikar Intercity are the usual choices.

Sikar is a good alternative: it is 45 km from Khatu (about an hour by taxi or bus) and has more trains from Delhi than Ringas does.

A night train is the most convenient — leave Delhi in the evening, reach Ringas by morning, and you are at the temple in half an hour. During the Phalgun Mela, book on IRCTC well in advance.

By air

Fly to Jaipur, then 80 km by road

There is no airport at Khatu. The nearest is Jaipur International (JAI), about 80 km away, and the Delhi–Jaipur hop is only 55–60 minutes with several flights a day on IndiGo, Air India, Vistara and SpiceJet.

From Jaipur airport, a pre-paid taxi or cab reaches Khatu in about 1.5–2 hours. It costs more than the train but is the fastest door-to-door option when time is short.

Practical Tips
  1. 1

Leave before dawn to clear Delhi traffic

Delhi’s roads choke after about 8 AM. Starting at 4–5 AM gets you past Dharuhera onto open highway, and into Khatu in time for a midday darshan.

  2. 2

Sikar or Ringas — which station?

Ringas is closer (17 km) but has fewer trains; Sikar is 45 km but better connected. If you are coming by train, get down wherever you find tickets sooner.

  3. 3

Book ahead for the Phalgun Mela

In March, every bus and train from Delhi to Khatu fills up. Reserve two to three months ahead, and expect the road to be slow with mela traffic.
