Sethon ka SethKhatu Naresh
‖ the merchant of merchants, the lord of Khatu ‖
The supreme deity of the Marwari community — "Sethon ka Seth Khatu Naresh", the merchant of merchants. Baba’s giving nature, that filled the lap of Seth Kothari and of lakhs of devotees. Kanhaiya Mittal’s official 4K version.
In the Marwari community Baba Khatu Shyam has a special name — "Sethon ka Seth", the highest of all merchants, the greatest giver. The name is tied to the story of Seth Abeerchand Kothari, who, after a dream-vision of Baba, gave his whole fortune to build the temple.
The feeling of the bhajan runs deep — when the merchant community calls its deity "the merchant of merchants", it acknowledges Baba as the source of all its wealth. Kanhaiya Mittal’s singing brings this out with great clarity.

Refrain
Sethon ka Seth Khatu Naresh hai,
Daataon ka daata Khatu Naresh hai.
Jholi bhar de, beda paar kar de,
Mera Baba Sethon ka Seth hai.
1 Abeerchand Kothari par teri kripa hui,
Sampoorna Marwari samaj tera bhakt bana.
Jo bhi aaye dar pe, khaali na laute,
Tere darbaar mein sabki jholi bhari.
2 Khatu nagari mein baitha hai daanveer,
Bhakton ke manorath poorna karta peer.
Seth ameer ho ya gareeb adheen,
Baba ke dar sab hain samaan, sab hain praveen.

"Sethon ka Seth" is a paradoxical and profound image. In the merchant world a "seth" is a wealthy trader. To call Baba "the seth of seths" is to accept that he is the source of all commercial prosperity — the great giver.
The verses recall the story of Seth Kothari — a rich merchant who gave his entire fortune in Baba’s name, and to whose lineage Baba gave endless prosperity.
This bhajan is sung by traders and industrialists, and at the start of every new venture. It holds a central place in the satsangs of the Marwari community.
When it is sung
Diwali, Dhanteras, the start of a new business, and Marwari satsangs — wherever Baba’s giving nature is remembered.
